low oil pressure

hey i have a bone stock 2.3L mustang, been having trouble with the oil pressure ever since i had it. Every time i check the oil its full, so i know its not low. dont know what the problem is. engine also idles a little lower than a grand, and when doing so the engine shakes a little. but once rpms hit 1200 rpms shes as smooth as could be

any suggestions?

do you have an aftermarket guage or the stock one. my ranger from time to time has problems with the guage reading it might be the oil pressure sender

2.3s use the motorcraft FL 1A filter and +1 on checking the oil press. sender. Where's the oil press. gauge at when it's idling?

+1 for checking with an aftermarket. i wouldn't spend a fortune doing it though. there's gotta be somebody in your area that could lend you a guage for an evening. i would if you were here, but 2hrs is a hike to borrow a guage.

I would verify ther oil pressure with a gauge like all the other guy's said. If it reads low then i would bet the oil pickup is plugged which is very common on these 2.3 engines. The screen is very small and gets pluged easy.

your gaskets might be going bad but they might not be losing oil yet \

#1 check all around your engine for any oil, if so ur gasket needs changed
#2 change your oil, and oil filter, depending on the milage i recommend penzoil high milage
#3 your gauge might just be bad or the sender is clogged like mine was ;P
