What type of oil are you using?

Just curious as it's about that time again. What type of oil are you using or do you recommend?

I don't think hes going to wanna put seven quarts in his stock 5.0 or hes going to have some problems. You must have a deep pan im guessing?

Don't stress too much on the oil, I've run 10w-30 in my 5.0's my whole life and they love it. Whether or not you want to run synthetic is another choice, the last engine I build held together for five years of racing on 10w-30 synthetic. Personally, I'm a Valvoline guy.

I'd stay away from any SM or SN oil.

I've got 10w-30 Mobil 1 High Mileage (SL) in the wife's convertible.

10w-40 Amsoil Premium AMO in my Yukon (2003). It's got a pile of zinc
http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/amo.aspx

My wife's Yukon (2005) has 5w-30 Pennzoil Platinum (SN)...only because wally world was out of Mobil 1 that day.

the DD has 10w-40 Cam2 (SL). 220k miles and still running strong.

I use 10w30 in the '95 vert with a 5.0 in it. The '03 I use 5w30 synthetic. You would be fine with the 10w30 in your Fox in all honesty. Ford Motorcraft is what I use in my vert.

I think everyone over thinks motor oils. I've driven numerous cars into the 300k+ zone with the cheapest oils and filters with no smoking or any other problems. But of course some consider oil cheap insurance, in which case you might as well spend a few dollars on oil analysis and they'll let you know exactly what to get for your car and driving.

After so many different responses I went back to my original train of thought that oil is oil. Went with Quaker State 10w-30 and a motorcraft filter.

I have started using Brad Penn, Seems lots of good write ups on that stuff. Time will tell. But I run the crap out of my cars so it will be a good test..

I stick with the Motorcraft Filter (from Dealer) and Synthetic Blend from Ford.

I see no reason to change. Valves and timing chain are spotless on my 2011 and that has almost 47,000 miles on it now.

Oil is oil.. I'm in the oil field I know... It's federally mandated that every brand has to be able to mix. If it's conventional and the same weight it mixes. there is no such thing as old oil,.the **** is 2 billion years old. Just needs to be cleaned and it's ready to go back in your car.
