Oil dipstick

Tried installing my FRPP dipstick in the block yesterday and something won't let the stick get down in all the way.The tube goes in fine, but the stick hits something when it gets a little into the zig-zag part .Could the main girdle be the problem, can't really see anything through that little hole.

Question

Is that on a early stock front timing cover dipstick hole or the stock dipstick hole on the driver's side of the block?

Did you put the girdle on with the notch on the correct side, or do you remember a notch for dipstick?

Did you try to change the angle of the tube? My old 306 I had to bend the tube slightly for the FRPP dipstick to work with the stock block and pan. No idea why.

Haven't messed with it since then. How did you bend it, Down towards the pan? Does the tube mount to a header bolt, kinda looked like it when I had it mocked up. But it looks like it needs to be bent a little for that also. Got any install pics Anthony?

Yes. Mine bolts up to the 4th header bolt back from the front. The rear bolt of the second header tube. I'm pretty sure I had to bend it down towards the pan and a tiny bit towards the mount bolt. I don't have any pix of it being installed but here is a couple pix of it installed I just took in the garage. Hope these help. I also have a custom made 7 qt racing pan with a male fitting coming out of the pan so the dipstick threads on. Its pretty trick.

Looks like I have some dust and a little corrosion to clean up...lol

Here is a pick of the one I had on my 306 with the stock pan on it. You can kinda see where I bent it.

Just for fun here's a pic of the new motor with the oil pan threads like I was saying. Pretty cool right?

Glad I could help. I got it from a good buddy of mine before his speed shop in Horsham PA closed when I lived over that way. The only thing I dont like is the rear 2 bolts around the crank seal are inside the pan. Theres 2 set screws on the bottom you have to take out to remove the bolts. other than that...no complaints.
