my '97 issue
ok so this has happened twice over the past 3 months. My '97gt .. driving along just fine. starts to get way down on power and run like hell then stalls out. Wont restart. acts JUST like it runs out of fuel. I unplugged the MAF to run on the default map.. same .no start.
after sitting for a little while (like an 45 min) it will start to run just fine again. I have a fuel pressure gauge I wanted to install on the rail. Remove the schrader valve and screw this gauge in so the next time the car does this I can look at the gauge to see if there's no pressure. I can't find an adaptor. I checked the male threads on the gauge and it's m10-1.0 and the schrader valve is M8-1.0 threads. EVERY adaptor kit I've seen says 1/8" NPT To 1/16" NPT Male wtf am I missing here? I dont want to just throw a pump in the car on the CHANCE that was the issue. even though like I said it sure dies like it runs out of fuel. ---------- Post added at 11:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:38 AM ---------- OOPS wrong section.. admins.. please. move ---------- Post added at 01:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:26 AM ---------- just ordered a new pump from here http://www.highflowfuel.com/i-520909...1985-1997.html Same company I got the pump from in my '90 hatch. They run great and have a hell of a warranty. Lifetime.. |

Once you completely remove the Schrader valve the threads in the fuel rails are 1/16th
http://performancefuelsystems.com/products.htm about half-way down the page they have a gauge/adapter that screws right on the schrader. Even on the Mach I just pulled the valve & used the Steeda adapter.

WTF then. I'm telling you I tried 4 different thread gauges and that's the size I came up with on each one. EVEN the thread gauge for a tap/die set came up with that same one.. WTF man.

This may sound stupid, but I don't understand why you are removing the Schrader valve to hook up your fuel pressure gauge. When I do a fuel pressure test I just screw my line on the valve, with the Schrader in, and then hook up my gauge to the quick disconnect on the other side. If you want me to take a look at it, let me know, I'll bring my gauge over. What you can also do is when it just shuts off, take a small pick or pocket screwdriver and depress the Schrader valve and see if fuel comes squirting out.

The whole point was so I can mount a gauge to the rail and leave it there. then i have one already there if/when the car acts up again. I can check it RIGHT then. This way i wouldn't have to drive around with a test kit in the trunk and have to thread it on. The gauge I already have in hand is already on the rail. That's the point.

I understand you want to leave it on, but I didn't know you needed a special adapter to put the gauge on. Is it because of the design of the gauge?
