KB Issue

Need some help. Installed a KB 1.5 today with the FMU and 24lb inj. Initially it start right up but the FP was at 100 psi at idle. Timing was at 12. Was running a bit choppy and in the course of trying to troubleshoot I unplugged the vacuum to the FMU. It promptly died and has since not restarted.

Any ideas? I even switched out the plugs-it just cranks with no start

Thanks

Have you checked for fuel at the shrader valve? How about spark?

i would say that 100psi is way too high. stock is 38 or so. each psi, FP goes up 1 psi.

So, your base should be 38-40ish, and then would go up accordingly. Sounds like you are flooded...

Oh yea flooded out the wazoo. Found my Kirban ADJ FPR has a blown o ring. Put the stocker back on and it at least started at 40 psi but only ran short and real rough. I am thinking it is either my MAF or inj as they were the only things changed )other than the KB unit itself and it ran fine a couple days ago. The KB should be doing next to nothing at idle so the issue HAS to be some electronics telling the injectors to dump fuel.

Other other thing I can think of is the injectors are just running the fuel rather then spraying it. MAF is easier to change so lets hope its that.......

did you pull the plugs yet? at 100 psi depending on how long that kirban has been screwed up you may have fouled them.

Yup good call-pkugs were way fouled. Got it running today though whoo hoo. The MAF that came with the "kit" must have been a POS as a electronics swap seemed to do the trick

good to hear you got it all figured out.

o2 sensors could be quite fouled too. i would definately take them out and clean them up to ensure all is OK. if you have cats, you might still have some issues until they get cleared out.

put a LMAF and 42lb injectors in it and have it tuned......DITCH THE FMU it is old technology and although it "works" you will have much better drivability with the proper injectors/tune
