Galpin Auto Sports building custom Boss 429-inspired Mustang for charity
Galpin Auto Sports in Southern California is known for building some pretty extreme custom Mustangs, but their latest project could be the most impressive yet. GAS has teamed up with specialty manufacturer SPX to create a one-off widebody Mustang that will be sold for charity at the 2012 Barrett-Jackson classic car auction in Scottsdale, AZ. With styling inspired by the 1969 Mustang Boss 429, the exterior will feature a hand-built steel widebody kit painted in Candy Apple Red Pearl PPG paint. Under the hood, the 5.0L V8 has been fitted with a Ford Racing supercharger and numerous other upgrades to produce 700 horsepower. Other modifications include Wilwood brakes front and rear, Forgiato three-piece wheels, an electronically-controlled exhaust cutout system and an original 1969 Boss 429 hood scoop.
Proceeds from the auction will go to benefit St. Jude Hospital to help the fight against cancer.
