Installation time: 1 to 2 hours

Tools needed: ratchet, metric sockets, cutter or grinder, silicone, and maybe a hammer.

Step 1

Remove the shifter handle by unscrewing it and pop off the console cover plate.

Step 2

Cut a notch so that you can reach the upper left bolt.

Then unscrew the 4 bolts holding it down.

Step 3

Pull the shifter plate off. It's tight but it will come out of there.

Step 4

Unscrew the 4 bolts holding the shifter down, then pull the shifter its self off. As you can see I needed a little extra help.

When installing the new shifter be sure to put a bead of silicone around the outer edge. The only other thing to watch when installing the new shifter is to make sure that the shift ball engages into the internal linkage. It's obvious when it doesn't, a little grease on the ball is a good idea too.

Step 5

I don't know why but I didn't take any pictures of this next step. But it's easy. To adjust the stops, pull the shifter into second gear and hold it there, then thread in the stop bolt until it touches the stick. Then, unscrew it one full turn and lock it down with the nut. Do the same thing with the front stop, holding it in third gear.

Step 6

Just reinstall everything else just as you took it out and you are ready to go bang some shifts.
